Topics in this Podcast:

We got a TON to cover, so hang on kids!

The first minute is a sample from the Jabra JX10 Bluetooth Headset, one of the flagship models featured at CES and available now. The clarity isn’t great, but it’s not meant for recording, just cell phones.

Since Macworld was most recent, and there were several major announcements of immediately available products, I give it the first half of the show. The MacBook Pro and i(ntel)Mac make their debut. What a weird combo! We didn’t expect these two products to premier the Intel chip, and it might not have been the best choices. Catch the new ad here. Also the iPod nano and iPod video get a remote with FM tuner. iLife gets a major update and iWeb is introduced. Oh, and is iTunes malware? You decide!

CES 2006 had a CRAZY number of products. Today we cover just the TVs and the TV technologies. The biggest plasma prize goes to… drumroll please… Panasonic, with their monster 103” display, just barely edging out the LG 102” display. Samsung wins the biggest LCD award with their 82” behemoth. And Westinghouse shows of a 56” display with a full megapixel resolution – 3840x2160.

Humax integrates a DirectTV tuner into their 32” display. Sony shows off their 5 new BRAVIA displays, available now at the Sony Store. Philips shows off their Ambilight Surround technology. Pretty lights. Must buy. Samsung axes the color wheel from the DLP and uses LEDs instead. For a nice overview of DLP technology, check out TI. And last but not least, SED technology is set to dominate the market over LCD, DLP, LCoS, Plasma, and any other acronym you can think of. Check out the technology and initial impressions!

This weekend, I’ll cover the rest of the show. Plenty of material left, so stay tuned.
