The Dell battery recall, Dell adding AMD chips and the Sandisk Sansa e280, plus more!

We got some interesting articles on the Digital Trends website this week. Have you ever wondered, “Is there someone REALLY driving around on the roads mapping all that hot and spicy GPS guidance goodness? Audio/Visual
Logitech has released a really nice looking wireless music system, with a great looking remote that wreaks of their buyout of Harmony. Check out the wireless DJ system.
Two 8GB monsters are entering the ring. The Sandisk Sansa e280 offers an iPod nano trouncing 8GB of internal store, with a microSD slot for added storage goodness. The Samsung SCH-8570 offers all that, and a bag of chips, AND cell phone functionality. Throw in a 2MP camera, and you’re rocking.
Pimpin’ (MP3 players) ain’t easy. Just ask Dell.
Hardware
Dell recalls 4.1 million laptop batteries, due to their tendency to go splodey. Splodey bad. Sony manages to keep the PC maker quiet about the fact that the batteries are actually made by Sony, but consumers will not be fooled!
On the up side, Dell will be adding AMD processors to their desktop lineup. Hear my thoughts in this week’s podcast. Hint: I’m always right. (that last statement is wrong is all). AMD launches new Opertons, but really they are setting the motherboard stage for the upcoming quad core war.
Sony released the LS1. Yet another All-in-One PC from Sony, and as always, this looks pretty snazzy.
Peripherals
Oh sweet Logitech, how I love thine products. The Skype handset, speakerphone, MX3200 Desktop and EasyCall Desktop find their way to the website.
Apple
People think Apple is good. People also think Kevin Federline is good. Take popularity with a grain of salt.
Gaming
The Nintendo DS browser, the source of rivers of fanboy drool, has been auditioned. The verdict: it stinks.
Create your own Xbox 360 and Windows XP games with Microsoft’s XNA Game Studio. For $99/month you can make a play crappy games. Awesome!
Rumors have it that the Xbox 360 HD-DVD add on will clock in at $200 are picking up steam. And by that I mean, they still exist.
NVidia will now let you make Quad SLI configurations of your own. Wallets everywhere scream in horror.
Nintendo won’t be charging for online play in the upcoming Wii. Thank… friggin… God!
Random
Segway has released the i2 and x2 human transport upgraded machines. One for your tech savvy business/urban human commuter, on for your adventurous, off roading with my Segway types. Ass goofy as they are, the gyroscopic stabilization trend has led to an interesting ‘wheelchair’ design. Hear my quick take (from someone that has designed interface devices for the disabled!)
